Grandmere is smiling and bragging!

I AM A GRANDMOTHER - O MY GOSH!!!!

I'm sure you have already read Jacki's account of April 17th, so I won't repeat.  But I will say that my grandson is the most awesome, beautiful baby in the entire world.  I know I'm supposed to think that / say that, but it is totally true and I'm sticking with my story!!

Any grandmother I've spoken with, including my own mom, says there's nothing like it.  It's like when you become a mom, yourself.  You've heard any mom you've ever spoken with say that it's the most awesome experience you'll ever have.  That is true, cause I'm a mom, and I've never experienced anything like it, and my daughter is the most awesome person in my life.  Well, now I understand what the grandmother's have said.  Luke is absolutely precious!  I only got to see him up close and personal and hold him a very brief few moments, but I will never forget them.  I can't wait to see him in a few weeks.  I'm making a gift for him and it's not quite done, so I gotta hurry and finish it, so I can see him again.  Good planning, on my part, huh?!

Jill and Ken were so calm and laid back.  I think they were probably still on the adrenaline rush and in shock.  But I can tell they are both gonna be excellent parents. I'm very proud of them and pray they will all get the rest they need and the instructions they need before going home Sunday.

I also got to see my Dad yesterday on my way home.  He is doing much better.  He looks frail yet, but his color is better and he is moving around in his bed more than I've seen since this all started.  I got there at suppertime and it was good to see him be able to eat his meal by himself, and he ate every bite, and commented that the food is always good.

He seems to think he's only been at the nursing home a few weeks, when in fact it's been six weeks, now going on seven.  His thought processes are not as clear as they were, and prior to this last event, they weren't exactly on.  But his spirits are good.  He enjoys hearing about the family.  He loves visits, phone calls and cards.

So, yesterday was absolutely exhausting, but the best day ever!  Did I mention that my grandson is the most beautiful baby I've ever seen?  Well, let me tell you, Luke is absolutely beautiful, precious, sweet and wonderful.

Ok, I guess I'd better try to get some other stuff done - like what?  Waiting for pictures of my beautiful, wonderful, precious grandson!  Yeah - for grandmothers!!!!!!!!!

CELEBRATION OF LIFE

I attended a funeral yesterday at my church.  Our president of the consistory and very involved elder, Jan, died suddenly last Fri night of a heart attack.  He had heart problems and was treating for his blood pressure.  But he was only 50 years old.  It was a shock to us all.  I felt very fortunate to have known him the short year that I did.  His wife, Bonnie, sings on the choir and is in my Sunday School class, so I've gotten to know her a bit.  By being at the Celebration of Life service, I got to know the family even better.  The sharing by the family and close friends was very informative, touching, funny and special.  Our pastor preached a very special message, using the prodigal son passage because that was Jan's story, being raised in the church, he strayed and then came back.  I liked the way Pastor Bill wove the stories together, preaching the gospel and giving the invitation to all present to be sure to know Christ personally and be assured of His grace and forgiveness.  We will all miss Jan very much, but we know, without a doubt, that he is the presence of God, at peace and eternally happy.  Praise God!!

Talk about being lazy -

- today I slept, did laundry, check my e-mail, read and went back to bed.  Actually, this would be nice to do more often, except the laundry part:)

I Know it's Been Awhile.....

....but I just can't seem to get the hang of this writing part.  I love the reading part. The holidays are over, we've frozen nearly to death with subzero temps, and now January is almost over - different year, same pattern.  This sounds way to glum - sorry.  Anyway, I bought myself a Christmas present a few weeks ago.  I've been looking for a corner TV stand for my living room.  I've been using a cabinet my Dad made for me that holds most of my piano music books and sheets.  It's extremely heavy to move, but has served as my TV stand for many, many years.  The music that has been in it forever, I seldom use anymore.  So I figured if I ever found a "real" TV stand, I'd retire the music cabinet.  Well, I found one at a local small furniture store.  It was perfect.  With lots of help from Jacki & Chris in picking the right color and style and transporting it home and setting it up for me, I now have a corner TV stand.  Someday when I get a digital camera and learn how to use it and then put pictures online, I'll show it to you - but don't hold your breath.  Ha!Ha!  Anyway the neat part of the whole story is that even though I felt I had enough money to purchase this stand, which was on sale, that same day I also received an escrow check in the mail that covered a little more than half the cost, and I found out my monthly mortgage was being reduced by $10/month.

Inauguration Day was absolutely awesome, moving and wonderful!

It's Friday, and I'm very glad the week is done.

I'm done, for now.
